Cybil grew up in Marrero, Louisiana. She and her husband, Thomas, have 5 children. Two of their sons Trenten (5th grade) and Tristen (3rd grade) are in Spanish. Their daughter, Cayden, is now in the sixth grade but was in the French program. No decision has been made about the language of the other two future flaimers. When not FLAIMing Cybil can be found in the casino…. she deals table games at L'auberge Baton Rouge. Her favorite quote is from George Washington Carver, “No individual has any right to come into the world and go out of it without leaving behind him distinct and legitimate reasons for having passed through.”
Heidi grew up in Abbeville, where she was surrounded by her strong French-Acadian roots. Heidi and her husband, Todd, felt it was important for their son, Jules, who is going into 5th grade, to learn about French culture and language.
Heidi has been a realtor in the Baton Rouge area for over 20 years. Heidi is a strong supporter of the revitalization of Mid-City and Downtown. She is currently on the Board of Directors for Mid-City Redevelopment Authority. Heidi has a keen sense for event planning and organization. Heidi was chair of Viva il Vino, Forum 35's largest fundraiser while serving 4 years as board member, and for she was Secretary for Ogden Park Neighborhood Association for 4 years. David and his wife Kori, and their daughter Layne, have jumped into the deep end with FLAIM. Layne is entering first grade French and David and Kori are loving connecting with the FLAIM community and look forward to going back to Paris for a third time where Layne will do all the translating for us.
David grew up in Wichita, Kansas, went to a small college in eastern Kentucky, seminary in Abilene, Texas, then lived, worked and studied in the Washington, DC area for fourteen years. David completed a Doctorate in Ministry at Drew University. For the past five years David has the senior minister at First Christian Church on Old Hammond Highway. He loves his family, his church, his pickup truck, fixing stuff around his house, his dogs and if he can get his backside back in gear, loves cycling around town. He’s a pretty good photographer as well.
Michael and his wife, Cheri, are the proud parents of 2 boys, Connor and Ian. Their oldest son, Connor, is entering the 3rd grade Spanish program, and his brother will be following him through the Spanish program once he is old enough to attend. The Strains are excited to have their boys participate in an immersion program not only because of the social benefits of being able to speak a second language but also for the physiological benefits for brain development.
Michael is a Baton Rouge native and handles IT support for the Athletic Department at LSU. When not rallying support for FLAIM needs, he builds furniture as a hobby and enjoys canoeing the waterways around Baton Rouge.
If you are interested in joining the FLAIM Men's Club, please contact Michael at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Hannah drives the big blue van, has 3 girls in the Mandarin program and plans to enroll her remaining 3 next year. She is an avid runner and manager of chaos, they go hand in hand. Every summer she packs up the van and travels north to her home town of Cleveland, Ohio.
The Mandarin program and the wonderful team of teachers has anchored her family in Baton Rouge. In her pre-kid days she taught just about every high school History course available in both the US and at an international school in S. Korea. She travelled extensively in East Asia and also holds an MA from Teachers College. She values quality, free education for all kids, and the unique opportunities that an immersion education provides. As a former teacher and child of educators she knows the importance of supporting her kids' teachers. She and her husband hope to one day return to China and let their kids be the tour guides. Until then they will settle for Chinatown in the various US cities they visit.

Jasmine and her husband Angel are blessed to be the proud parents to Gaby 9 and Grace-Angelle 7, a second grade mandarin student. Ten plus years ago, when Jasmine and Angel were expecting their first bundle of joy, they went and toured numerous different schools. When they toured BR FLAIM, they immediately knew that they found a gem.
Angel and Jasmine grew up speaking a second language. They have travelled and lived in many different states and countries internationally around the globe and has experienced and embraced so many different cultures. Jasmine and Angel believe that immersion teaches proficiency and open doors to the world. Being bilingual has truly enriched their lives and has lead to new ways of conceptualizing themselves and others. It has expanded their worldview, so that they not only know more diversity, they know differently.
Jasmine is excited to serve as your liaison connecting information to you, her fellow FLAIM parents, the teachers, administrators and the PTO. She cannot wait to continue making our school more awesome together for our children! Thanks in advance to all the room parents that will work to make this school year the best!
Our social media presence and our PTO site contains lots of information. If you aren't able to find the answers that you are looking for, please do not hesitate in contacting me at email@example.com
Sallee Joseph, Mandarin Liaison
Sallee and her husband Joshua are the products of TN and LA public schools; they are also the children of public school educators. Their son continues the legacy of an enriched public school environment through the Mandarin program at FLAIM. Like most FLAIM parents, they feel that the opportunity for Mandarin immersion in the EBR public school system is extraordinary.
Sallee has over 20 years of corporate experience in the telecommunications industry, performing various roles related to emerging technologies. Her career has involved many years of international travel throughout China and the world. Although she did not master the Mandarin language during her travel, she looks forward to returning with her family and having a personal translator as a result of FLAIM.
Sallee is active at FLAIM and throughout the community. She has volunteered with Girls Scout troop 10058 (Polk) and served as room parent for her son’s class. Additionally, she is still engaged with her beloved undergraduate alma mater, serving as the president of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College. Moreover, Sallee is a Children’s Church instructor and, along with Joshua, leads the Youth and Young Adult Ministry at United Believers Baptist Church.
I am a stay-at-home of four. My son just graduated from FLAIM and started 6th grade at Westdale Middle this year. Audreanne is a 2nd grader and Aurelia a Kindergartener, both in the French program. Heloise is only 3 and home with me.
I am originally from France. I have a MS in chemistry/biochemistry for Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I met my husband Stanley, who is from Louisiana, in graduate school. We had lived in several states until we moved to Baton Rouge in 2013 at which time our son started 1st grade at FLAIM. We all speak French at home ( Stanley is also bilingual.)
I am also the leader of the 1st through 3rd grade Girl Scout troop at school.
In my seven and a half minutes of spare time, I like to read, bake, knit and sew.
I am looking forward working on extra-curricular and French enrichment activities with the committee.
Casey and her husband, Adam, have a 4th grader and kindergartner in the Mandarin program and are really enjoying their time as part of the FLAIM family. As a first generation immigrant from China, Casey is grateful for the opportunity for her children to be immersed in the language on a daily basis.
Casey was formerly the PTO Treasurer from 2017-2018 then served as the 2018-2019 PTO President. She continues to advise and serve in the PTO.
